  • SCHOOL IS TEMPORARILY

     CLOSED DUE TO FIRE

    Dear University Preparation Families,

UPCS has made the decision to remain closed on Friday, November 8th.

The Camarillo community has been greatly impacted by the Mountain Fire and due to the ongoing challenges with air quality, road closures,

and the work the first responders are still doing, we feel the best decision is to remain closed

through Monday, November 11th.  School will resume Tuesday, November 12th.

Many UPCS staff and families have been directly impacted by the fire and our hearts go out to all those affected

by this devastating event. As a community, we are stronger together and during such difficult times,

we want to remind everyone that we are here to offer support in any way we can.

We encourage you to reach out if you need assistance or resources, or know someone in need.

The school will be reaching out to affected families to find out the best ways to support

and we will communicate possible collaborative efforts as appropriate.

We are committed to helping everyone recover from this tragedy.

Events like this can cause some students to experience anxiety.

Our teachers and staff are here to support students upon their return to school.

Farmworkers in Ventura County can receive critical alerts about wildfire smoke

conditions when the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches unhealthy levels.

To receive these alerts, text “SMOKE” (for English) or “HUMO” (for Spanish, Mixteco, and Zapoteco) to 855-522-0034.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority,

and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.

We will provide updates as necessary and inform you of any further developments.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please stay safe.

    With sympathy and in solidarity,

    Charmon Evans, Executive Director

Verónica Solórzano, Director of Student Services

Echo Reves, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
