    Name: Jeanine Vigil
Grade Level: Early Years 1st Grade
Welcome to our class!  My name is Ms. Vigil and I am very excited about you being a part of our classroom family.  I have lived in the Ventura County area for most of my life, graduating from Newbury Park High School.  I received my bachelors degree from University of Houston - Clear Lake with a focus on early childhood education, and have finished my masters degree classes through Walden University as a Reading and Mathematics Specialist.

First grade is a year of transitions and growth for every child.  Students will be learning an abundance of new skills.  These new skills will consist of learning to read, write stories, add, subtract, and so much more.  It is our goal to have a cooperative learning environment in which we work together to help each student reach their potential, and to become life-long learners.  Each student will have various learning experiences which we can find some success in.  These small successes are the building blocks of individual growth and it will be our whole classes’ responsibility to encourage each other and build upon these foundational blocks.    We are going to look closely at the community around us with field trips scheduled for the post office, fire station, and Tae Kwon Do just to name a few. Look for those permission slips to come home in the communication binder, We will also explore animal adaptations, the patterns in space, light, and sound in science.

Your students will have the opportunity to work with Sonia King in room A1 and Len Bullicer in room K2.  They are fabulous instructors, so check out their sites as well.

As your child's teacher, I will strive to instill in your child a love for learning, and a classroom which will be a place where your child will want to come to learn and grow throughout the year.  I will keep you informed with weekly updates about our classroom and how we can work as a team.  I encourage you to keep me informed of anything you feel I need to know to help your student succeed.  I can be reached at the school at (805)482-4608 or email me at jvigil@pleasantvalleysd.org.  I look forward to working with you this 2018-2019 school year.
