Hello! I am so excited to be part of your child's education as their 4th/5th grade teacher! I joined the UPCS family in 2014 as a student teacher. After obtaining my teaching credential, I was an official hire as a Spanish Push-In teacher to all the Language Enrichment classrooms, a Specialist to both the elementary and middle school site, and a K/1 Job Share teacher. Yes, I wore 3 hats for 2 years !!
Although it may sound like an immense amount of juggling, I was very lucky to have worked with the entire school for two years. It gave me multiple opportunities to learn and grow as a teacher. I was able to work with all the grade bands, plan for different grade levels, get to know different students and their needs for success, but most importantly, I was able to be apart of the whole UPCS community everyday. I loved gaining experience for all grades, but I am looking forward to working with the 4th and 5th graders!
I was born and raised in Ventura. The only time I ever moved away was when I attended San Diego State University, where I received my bachelor's degree in Sociology. I returned to Ventura to attend California State Channel Islands University, where I received my Teaching Credential. When I am not teaching, I am traveling with my husband, going to the movies, reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
I am looking forward to working closely with you, so I can provide the best quality care and instruction for your child in order for them to have a successful educational experience. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions and/or setting up an appointment to meet. Your input is greatly appreciated.
Let's make it a good year!
Mrs. Marisela Vara
