Welcome to our class! My name is Ms. Vigil and I am very excited about you being a part of our classroom family. I have lived in the Ventura County area for most of my life, graduating from Newbury Park High School. I received my bachelors degree from University of Houston - Clear Lake with a focus on early childhood education, and have finished my masters degree classes through Walden University as a Reading and Mathematics Specialist.
First Grade is a year of amazing growth for every child. Students will be going from reading short sentences to longer passages and even chapters. They will also be working with 2 digit numbers and finding multiple ways to manipulate them. We will be going on many walking field trips learning about different community members and the facilities they work in. It is through these experiences that we have created a cooperative learning environment in which we work together to help each student reach their potential, and to become life-long learners. Each student will have various learning experiences which we can find some success in. These small successes are the building blocks of individual growth and it will be our whole classes’ responsibility to encourage each other and build upon these foundational blocks.
As your child's teacher, I will strive to instill in your child a love for learning, and a classroom which will be a place where your child will want to come to learn and grow throughout the year. I will keep you informed with weekly updates about our classroom and how we can work as a team. I encourage you to keep me informed of anything you feel I need to know to help your student succeed. I can be reached at school (805)482-4608, Parent Connect, or email me at jvigil@pleasantvalleysd.org. I look forward to working with you this 2022-2023 school year.
