Thank you for your interest in El Jardín de la Universidad! Our developmental preschool program incorporates the mission of University Preparation Charter School at CSUCI: supporting students in second language learning and bi-literacy development. In our classroom children will benefit from the high quality language models in Spanish and English provided by interactions between peers as well as adults. Our program will provide an early opportunity for learning a second language in a 70/30 model (70% Spanish and 30% English).

Our philosophy is based on active learning. Through active involvement with their environment, children add pieces of information to what they already know, thereby generating new understandings. By providing an enriched, stimulating environment filled with child-initiated, child-directed learning experiences we offer children the opportunity to learn and grow in skills necessary to becoming autonomous, productive individuals. We also believe that families are the child's primary teacher and source of comfort. We strive to develop relationships with families, so that as a community we can work together to support our children. 

Our program services children from 3 to 4 years of age. We are supported in part by a grant from First 5 and State Preschool Funding, applications available to qualify for scholarships.
